Grand Opening!
It has finally arrived, the time when we can open the interior tasting room! It has been a long journey with many memories and lessons along the way. We are so thankful for everyone that has supported us throughout this venture. We could not have made it without all the love from our fans, friends and family.
We started our brewery in Fishkill, NY on a small plot of land. We received our Farm Brewery license in November 2013. We purchased our 25-acre farm in Poughkeepsie on May 5th, 2015. We were determined to rescue the 1830's barn left standing on the hill. There were many ups and downs through this project. Many moments when we thought we might never open.
Thankfully, we have made it out the other side! We received our Certificate of Occupancy from the Town of Pok Building Dept on Friday, July 13th 2018 and are planning our Grand Opening celebration for the first weekend in August. Five years ago, we had a dream and our journey has proved that dreams can come true if you work hard and never give up.
Our work is never truly done! Plan Bee will continue to improve and enhance the farm. Now that we have achieved this milestone of opening our tasting room, we are already brainstorming the projects to come. Maybe a lager cave under the hill with natural lagers, a fishing pond for leisurely afternoons, farm to table dinners with rotating chefs from the community, music events, live theatre, hiking trails, . . . so many ideas.
On the immediate horizon, making our brewery 100% sustainable. We have signed up for community solar to offset our electric use on the farm. This works by renting solar panels near by that will deliver renewable, clean energy back into the grid. Currently, Brewmation is creating a bio digester for our spent grain that will power the brewhouse.
We are here to stay and look forward to the future dreams that will come to life here in Poughkeepsie. Thank you so much for being a part of this journey. We look forward to having you all come along with us as we continue down this road.
